These files have been allowed to remain since they do illicit some interest from time to time. When I get the chance, I will redo them and cretae some new ones since the technology used to create these is now very old and things have moved on.

The following MP3 files represent some of my compositions. None of them are finished items as such but merely working files. Some are taken from their relevant Midi scores and thus tend to lack proper musical feeling whilst others are initial ideas to be worked on further. As with the classical works elsewhere, these recordings made use of very out of date MIDI modules. When I have the time, they will be redone using more up to date sounds.

Dance Suite:- This is a set of four dances plus a summary/overture of all the movements. Whilst distinctly reminiscent of medieval music they encompass much that is modern in terms of melody, harmony, rhythm and orchestration.

Piano Concerto:- As yet, lacking a 3rd. movement. I may rework the two existing movements to create a third or use completely new themes.

Little Piece:- I composed this one afternoon as a sort of homage to English light classical music which although much out of favour with many, still has its aficionados.

Fugal:- This was an experiment to see whether I could write a sensible 5 part fugue. Although not a classic fugue - the subjects do not follow correct procedure, it can be described as "fugal" and it's really full of counterpoint. There's even a canon at the end. It is loosely based on the first movement of the dance suite above.

Peak Cavern:- This was composed as a "Son et Lumiere" format for tours of the famous show cave. Unfortunately, lack of funds for the waterproof speakers and amplification needed for the feature have not allowed this project to progress so far.

Mindset:- Just a small idea which needs further development.

MP3files/mindset.mp3 (3.45Mb)

In7:- Composed whilst messing about with 7/8. This may become the foundation of a cello concerto.

MP3files/in7.mp3 (4.40Mb)

Metheney Like:- I'm a great fan of Pat Metheney and Lyle Mays and this piece although needing further development, is reminiscent of their music.

Two Ballads:- I composed both of these one evening with an old friend. We sat down, he wrote some words and I wrote some music. Mike will be the first to admit that he doesn't sing well (God, he's out of tune in places) but at least it's better than me. I apologise about the plosives and much else but I had to rescue this, the only recording from a chewed up DAT tape of some vintage. Perhaps someone else may be able to add words for a second verse to one of the songs or even rework the lyrics entirely.
